May 4-5     Michaux Forest tactical

This event is being run by the former command staff for FIG for the last 2 years.  We have been asked to be a part of it and perform duties in a similiar manner as we have done for the last few years of FIG.  This is strictly a tactical event held at a church camp.  The event is Friday to Saturday with overnight in cabins at the camp.  This will not be period cabins but a warm place to sleep and be ready to be a part of the tactical Saturday.

July 14-15   Sully Plantation LH event   Chantilly, VA

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/sully/calendar.htm

Setup can begin as early as Friday afternoon, and all units are welcome to camp out for the weekend. We are open to the public from 10-4 on Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday. We ask that all groups remain until the close of the event on Sunday. We have weapons demonstrations twice a day (showcasing the difference between Allied and Axis weapons) and one tactical demonstration each day. As groups are available and willing, we also schedule other various demonstrations throughout the day. We've had everything from vehicle demonstrations to coffee-making in the field to medical demos. There is usually a music group on one of the days. In addition, the plantation home is open for tours, and the tour guides focus on the family that lived in the house during WWII.

We provide dinner for all participants (at no charge) on Saturday evening. The 51st ECB brings their kitchen and cooks for everyone.

September 14-16 Ike’s Farm and Convoy Gettysburg, PA

"Keep 'em Rolling!" WWI Convoy and Ike’s Farm Living History event

WWII CONVOY and Encampment

Convoy from the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg, PA to New Oxford, PA and back

Want to have more fun with your WWII MV soft-top, armored wheeled vehicle or motorcycle? Are you tired of parking your MV all day at an event, not being able to drive it except to and from your trailer?

Would you like to ride along and participate in a large WWII vehicle convoy?

Join the 4th ID MP Platoon and Combat Team Baker in the final dash from the Seine to the Rhine. It is late August, early September 1944 and with the collapse of the German front, jubilant troops are anticipating an early end to the war as they liberate villages, drink lots of wine and bivouac in open fields while guarding the Commanding General, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

We will be hosting an Allied ETO Military Vehicle Convoy and camp from the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg, PA to liberate New Oxford PA and back to the Farm. Check out the May 2008 issue of MVPA's magazine, "Supply Line", with an article by Pat Nicholson who attended last year's convoy. In 2009 we had 31 WWII vehicles participating including 7 motorcycles, 1 half-track, 1 armored car, 3 WC's, a command car and many jeeps and 1/4 ton trailers.

On the way to New Oxford on Saturday, we may be ambushed before we liberate the "French village" where the villagers will pass out French bread, faux wine and champagne to the liberators. We'll spend the afternoon and night of the 18th as well as the 19th at the home of our Commanding General, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Participate in an on-going living history encampment representing the men and women under Ike's command during WWII. The time frame of the convoy/camp will be August/September 1944. On Sunday, we'll stay on-site at the Eisenhower Site to participate in the living history program and period vehicle games and activities.

Check out the Eisenhower Farm website for more info:
